SMHI warns of torrential rain

During the afternoon, heavy showers may hit the area around Gävle, Falun and Uppsala. The rainy weather starts at 12 noon and can last until 7 pm.
– You should be alert for thunder if you are outdoors and the rain can, in addition to flooding, lead to traffic disruptions, says TV4’s meteorologist Madeleine Westin.

SMHI has issued a yellow warning for rain showers in Northeast Svealand and Uppland.

– They are on their way to Uppland and Gästrikland and they will be strengthened during the afternoon, which means that especially after lunch there may be locally heavy rain and thunder showers. There can be 30-40 millimeters in a very short time, says TV4’s meteorologist Madeleine Westin.

The warning is valid until 19:00 and Madeleine especially warns those who have school graduations planned to be prepared for the rainy weather.

– The heaviest showers start in the western parts and then also affect the eastern parts later in the afternoon. You should be alert for thunder if you are outdoors, and the rain can, in addition to flooding, lead to traffic disruptions. There may also be hail, says Madeleine Westin.
