SMHI warns of snowfall

SMHI warns of heavy snowfall, strong winds and traffic problems in northern Sweden this week.
– It can fall up to two decimetres, and locally three decimetres of snow, says TV4’s meteorologist Ulrika Elvgren.

SMHI has issued a yellow warning for snowfall in large parts of Norrbotten County and the northwestern part of Västerbotten County. The snow area moves in from the west with a low pressure from Iceland.

According to SMHI, the snowfall is expected to cause traffic disruptions with limited access on some roads, with slippage, mud, poor visibility and snow. In addition, SMHI warns of wind in combination with snowfall in parts of the northern Lapland mountains

“From Tuesday evening, snowfall which, especially during Wednesday, can become abundant and, among other things, cause traffic problems”, they write on their website.

Then the snowy weather can slow down

According to Ulrika Elvgren, the snow weather looks like it will be strongest during Tuesday evening and then ease off on Thursday.

– But it has already started snowing and it will last for several days, says Elvgren.

Temperatures will vary from a few minus degrees on Calf Mountain to around zero in the other warning areas. Something that can bring heavy snow.
