SMHI warns of flooding

— In many places it has culminated or is culminating right now. But there is still a lot of water in many watercourses, says SMHI’s hydrologist on duty Hugo Rudebeck.

Last year Torneälven was hit by the worst floods in 50 years, but the risk of something similar happening this year is low. After the weekend’s spring heat, the snow in the forest landscapes has almost melted away, which slows down the water flow. At the same time, breaks are on the weather menu going forward.

– It will also get colder, which is favorable. Then the snow in the mountain world melts more slowly.
