Inform about the flight plan
Hielke Chaudrongroup manager for Funäsdalen’s mountain rescue group, takes safety very seriously and thinks the most important thing is to inform a relative about the hiking route before going out.
— You must inform about the round and when you intend to come back. If you get lost and the phone breaks, it is important that someone else can raise the alarm, he says.
It is also important to bring extra food, water and clothes as well as a compass to be able to go in the right direction in an emergency.

Turn in time
During autumn, the weather can change quickly and a day that initially looks sunny can become really cold if the clouds move in and the wind changes.
— A temperature of 20 degrees can quickly become 10 degrees. And if you add wind and rain, it can quickly feel like just a few plus degrees, says Hielke Chaudron.
At a wind speed of 18-24 meters per second, as it can be in Norrbottensfjällen and Västerbottensfjällen during Tuesday, it is really difficult to get there and it will be very difficult to set up tents, according to the mountain rescuer.
