Double mass cracks have taken place in Uppsala County.

Curious weather with a snow cannon effect which according to SMHI is typical of the area is behind.

-Cold air comes down far from the north, passes across the open sea in the Gulf of Bothnia, picks up moisture and releases this in the form of snowfall when it reaches land, says Erik Höjgård-Olsen, guard meteorologist at SMHI.

– It usually comes back in this area, at the top of the country and can extend quite far south.

In many places in Uppsala County, it has fallen between five and ten centimeters of snow and the snowfall seems to continue until midnight.

– Then this route shifts east and will pass Stockholm County during the evening, but then it does not seem to be the same quantities at all.

The snow slope has led to several accidents. More than 20 people are on their way to the Academic Hospital in Uppsala after mass crashs on E4 and E18. The hospital has gone up in staff position.

SMHI urges the person who embarks on the roads to take caution.

– Generally at such weather situations, one must be set to the risk of poor visibility, risk in this case in snow slope and, even if you consider yourself a superb driver, risk of problems on the roads.
