SMHI advises against mountain tours – “Great risk of frostbite”

As early as Wednesday afternoon, the wind is expected to pick up in the mountain areas, and unaccustomed visitors are advised against mountain tours. There will be strong to very strong winds of 18-23 meters per second.

Storm force and abundant snowfall

During the night to Thursday, the wind is expected to subside somewhat, but on Thursday morning it will pick up again. In combination with snow flurries that are expected to be abundant, it can blow at 25-30 meters per second and everyone is “strongly advised” not to go out on the mountain.

According to SMHI, there is a high risk of frostbite and possible rescue efforts can be risky and take a long time. Orientation and movement will be difficult due to severely reduced visibility.
