Police profiler Viktor Adolphson, known as YB Södermalm, writes about Friday’s event on the platform X :
“A woman visiting inside the halls of the Royal Palace suddenly slipped past guards and barriers and sat down on the silver throne. Unfortunately, the throne from the 17th century was also scratched during the move.”
The woman is now suspected of damage and violation of the Protection Act.
However, according to the royal house’s head of information Margareta Thorgren, there are no signs that the silver throne has been damaged.
On a first inspection of the chair itself, no damage is visible. We are incredibly grateful for that, because this is a truly fine cultural heritage, she tells Expressen.
Queen Kristina’s silver throne was made before her coronation in 1650 and has since been used by kings and queens on solemn occasions. The last time was in 1974 when the ceremonial opening of the Riksdag was held in the Rikssalen in the castle.
