Smart students should be allowed to study at a higher rate – can finish school in a shorter time

Smart students should be allowed to study at a higher

That is the meaning of a government proposal that has now been submitted to the Legislative Council for review.

Around every fourth student in junior high school and upper secondary school testifies that they do not get enough challenges in their school work. The risk is therefore that they tire and underperform instead.

Against this background, the government proposes that the experiment with nationally recruiting advanced training programs be made permanent. Advanced courses give students the opportunity to study together with like-minded people.

Furthermore, primary school students must be able to read one or more subjects at upper secondary level, and get upper secondary grades in these subjects. Distance education must be possible.

High school students must be able to read at a faster pace and thus be able to complete their high school studies in less than three years. Already today, universities can let students who have not yet completed upper secondary education take university courses, so on that point the government is not proposing any rule change.
