In the city of approximately 138,000 inhabitants in eastern England, the coming-of-age celebrations are already being celebrated for the second season in a row.
Ipswich Town returns to the English Premier League after 22 years. Ipswich beat Huddersfield 2-0 in the second tier, or the final round of the Championship, and secured the second straight promotion spot behind Leicester.
Founded in 1878 and having won the English championship in 1962, Ipswich last played in the Premier League in the 2001-2002 season. The club known by the nickname “Tractor Boys” finished fifth in the Premier League in the 2000-2001 season, but the following season brought 18th place and relegation to the championship side.
The head coach Kieran McKenna has managed to turn the tide of East Anglia’s Ipswich, as the town is now celebrating its rise for the second year in a row. Between 2019 and 2023, Ipswich played for four seasons in England’s third tier in the First League.
Leicester had already secured promotion and a championship win earlier. Leicester, who won the surprise championship in the Premier League in 2016, was relegated from the main league after last season, but only spent one season in the lower level.
Promotion to the Premier League guarantees the promoted clubs in TV contract money alone for at least 200 million pounds in the coming years.
The Leeds machine has coughed up
Finnish national team player Glen Kamaran represented by Leeds finished the regular season sticky and finished third, six points behind Ipswich. Leeds’ season continues in the promotion play-offs, which involve the teams that finished in the 3rd to 6th places.
Daniel Farken coached by Leeds will face Norwich in a two-part semi-final, which is also aiming for a return to the Premier League. The German pilot Farke is also remembered as Norwich’s head coach, when Teemu Pukki scored goals in “Canary birds”. In the second semi-final pair, Southampton and West Bromwich will meet.

The final match of the promotion playoffs will be played at Wembley in London on May 26. The winner of the match gets the third place in the Premier League.
