Small proportion of plastic is recovered
Almost 1.1 million tonnes of plastic were put on the Swedish market in 2023 – but only a small proportion is recycled. This shows a new survey from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.
The largest amount of plastic was available in different packaging, which was a total of 307,000 tonnes. According to the report, only 141,000 tonnes of plastic were recovered, about 13 percent.
A certain reduction in plastic on the market is visible compared to 2020 when the amount amounted to 1.3 million tonnes.

At 01, an alarm came in about an apartment fire in Karlstad after neighbors discovered it.
The fire took place on the third floor and it was first focused on life -saving efforts as it was unclear if anyone was in the apartment.

USA open up for foreign students again
The US presidential government again opens up the visa process for foreign students-but requires access to their social media accounts.
According to the US Foreign Ministry, their officials will keep an eye out for posts and messages that can be seen as hostile to the United States and its government, culture, institutions or other basic principles.
About 1,000 exchange students received their American visas in April this year and shortly thereafter, all visa interviews were paused for international students. The reason is not entirely clear, but seems to be that the students participated in protests, mainly linked to Israel’s war in Gaza.

Defense Minister Pål Jonson (M) writes on X that France is interested in buying four radar voltage plans from the model Globaleye.
“A strong collaboration between Sweden and France strengthens NATO’s collective defense,” Jonson writes.
During the day, Saab concluded that they signed a declaration of intent with the French purchasing authority for defense equipment regarding the sale of the plan.
A contract is expected to be completed in the next few months.
“This will strengthen the French Armed Forces’ ability to create a comprehensive situation and discover threats in the air, on land and at sea. With Globaleye, France gets full sovereignty over its reconnaissance and conductivity,” said Micael Johansson, Saab’s President and CEO, in a press release.

The number of dead after Tuesday’s Russian attack against Kyiv has risen to close to 30.
A total of 28 people were confirmed dead and at least 134 people were injured, according to the AP.
23 of the bodies were found in the racial masses after a nine -storey house in the Solomianskyj district.
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyj, Russia fired 32 robots and 440 drones in Tuesday’s attack on several areas in Kiev.
“One of the most horrific attacks” against the capital during the war, the president stated.
