He’s not fully awake. “I certainly celebrated the party,” he laughs. “But after such a victory, that is also allowed.” After an exciting game, the frenzied crowd poured onto the field. “Some cheering loudly, others crying with happiness,” says Van der Linden. “On the field you don’t realize that the tension is so high.” Beforehand he would have preferred a convincing win, but in hindsight the game as it was may well be perfect. “It was a tough game, but the way it is celebrated is really a fairy tale.”
