A roll with “a lot of finesse” was the key behind the victory.

Aftonbladet’s TV editor Johan Gunnarsson had barely eaten a flatbread roll before he competed in the SM in Linköping on Saturday.
But despite that, it was a success.
He took home the gold in the innovation class and got to cheer in front of the thin bread roll connoisseurs.
– It’s completely crazy. I don’t think that’s true, then. I was cocky before, but when you stand there against people who roll flatbread rolls all day, I bring my pickled tomatoes…
– I can cook and know how it should taste, but I’m an amateur at flatbread rolls. It is quite unlikely.
How are you now?
– I feel like five plus. I was so happy, it’s so incredibly wonderful to implement an idea, something I believed in and not think “what will everyone do”. It was my tastes, my roll and a lot of Gunnarsson.
Can you tell me what the roll consists of?
– It’s a super classic reel with a super amount of finesse. I opted out of ketchup and replaced with pickled tomatoes. Then I took pickled mustard seeds instead of mustard, I think that was the key. Then there was a chorizo mayonnaise and chili sausage sprinkles as a crunch on the chili sausage.
What did the jury say?
– It was very exuberant. They thought it was a great idea to remove ketchup and mustard but include ketchup and mustard. They thought it was a stroke of genius and liked the crunch on the chili sausage very much. Between us it wasn’t the prettiest roll, but I haven’t rolled that many rolls before.
How will you celebrate?
– I’m going to take the train home, but this has to be celebrated. There is no alternative. Then if it’s bubbly, berry or skimmed, I don’t care. I’ll probably sit in the restaurant car and drink Mariestads.
Will you be running again next year?
– You can’t not participate when you’ve won once. You have to stand up and defend the title, or you can end up with the flag on top and forever be Swedish champion.
The classic question: What do you want most of all right now?
– It would be very good with ice cold berries and then peace on earth.
