After two straight SM golds, Rosengård finished seventh last season in the women’s league – the club’s worst ranking in history.
At the time, many probably thought that it was the end of the era of greatness for the Malmö club, which has won eight SM gold since 2010.
However, the players in Rosengård wanted differently.

When the team beat Kristianstad 2–1, not only was the SM gold secured with a full four rounds left to play. It was also Rosengård’s 22nd victory out of a possible 22 in this year’s women’s league – a record.
No team has won all series matches in one season since the premier of the women’s league in 1988. Umeå has been close twice (2005 and 2006) with 21 out of 22 victories when the series consisted of 12 teams, but even the big club of the 00s did not manage to achieve a perfect season with only victories.
Rosengård’s progress on the field is even more impressive given that a player in the squad has repeatedly received serious threats, which have been reported to the police.
— It feels like this has really only strengthened us. I am incredibly impressed, said the sporting director Therese Sjögran to TT recently.

Against table four Kristianstad was Rebecca Knaak great victory organizer. The German made it 1-0 in the 19th minute on a goalkeeper return. In the 77th minute, Knaak got into a header duel with Carly Wickenheiser and it ended 2–0 for the home team.
Admittedly reduced Tilda Sandén in the final stages, but Rosengård was able to hold off.
The SM gold has been salvaged – the search for the perfect season continues.
