Färjestad has lost several important names.
Now the SM champions are looking for a replacement to strengthen the squad for the coming season.
– It needs someone more, says coach Tomas Mitell.

Färjestad entered last season with huge expectations. The club had recruited several established players, and was a big favorite to finally lift the SM trophy.

Opens for new acquisitions

But the start was anything but good and in the middle of the season both the sports director and then the coach Johan Pennerborn had to go. In came Richard Wallin and Tomas Mitell instead, who led Färjestad to a SM gold.

After the great success year, several players have left the Karlstad club. Among others, the two centers, Gustav Rydahl and Jacob de la Rose, have given up without Färjestad bringing in any replacements.

But now the club is opening to sign new players before the series starts in mid-September.

“Must be right”

We’re getting by so far, but it’s clear that someone more is needed there. It’s about getting it right and someone we believe in. We scan the market and during that time Åslund (Per) can play there too, says Tomas Mitell to Hockeynews.

The coach goes on to say:

I think we’ll score enough goals whether it’s an offensive center or not. The important thing is that it is something we believe in and we believe can fit into the SHL and do a good job.
