Christmas traffic continues to cause slippery roads in southern Sweden.

According to SMHI, there is also a risk of flooded roads along parts of the west coast.

The mild weather in the southern parts of the country risks creating traffic problems even during Christmas Day. SMHI has warned during the morning until the afternoon of sudden ice slippage in northern Götaland and parts of southern Svealand.

– Even later in the day it can be slippery in these areas, after these warnings have ceased to apply, says Sofia Söderberg, meteorologist at SMHI.

The problems may also creep further south as the temperature drops below zero.

– There will also be some rain and sleet during the day. If the roads are still wet, it may freeze during the afternoon and evening, and it may be worth keeping an eye on, says Sofia Söderberg.

SMHI has also issued an orange warning for high water levels along parts of the west coast, where there is a risk of flooding.

At 07:00 the water levels in both the Helsingborg area and in Halmstad are around 100 centimeters above normal.
