Just over 4,300 cases of covid-19 were registered last week, which is an increase of 13 percent compared to the week before when 3,800 cases were registered, the Public Health Agency reports.

The increase is mainly seen in the regions of Blekinge, Sörmland and Jönköping, while cases are decreasing in Halland and Västra Götaland.

A total of 26,000 people were tested for covid-19 during week 36, which is 9 percent more than the week before. The increased sampling is also believed to be due to the fact that the incidence of respiratory infections other than covid-19 has increased in the community in recent weeks, which is normal for this time of year.

The number of new intensive care patients per week has in recent weeks been at a slightly higher level than at the beginning of the summer. A total of 73 patients with confirmed covid-19 have been in intensive care over the past four weeks. 7 new cases were reported to iva during week 36. Among those in intensive care, the average age was 64 and the majority of patients belonged to a medical risk group.

As of September 1, people aged 65 or older are recommended to be vaccinated with a booster dose against covid-19. They also apply to people aged 18 and over who are in a risk group.
