Sleet, slip, and thaw – that’s how it looks in most parts of the country.
But soon the “real” winter may return.
– Next week it looks like there will be a portion of colder air, says TV4’s meteorologist Inger Eronn.
It’s plus degrees far up north, even though it’s the middle of January. In several parts of the country, there are currently large amounts of melted snow, slippery roads and sidewalks and cold rain that meets those who walk outside the door.
In the south of Sweden it is not entirely unusual for the mild weather, but in the north it is rarely mild with four or five plus degrees.
– Right now it is ten degrees warmer than normal in northern Sweden. As it is now in northern Norrland, it is extremely hot, says TV4’s meteorologist Inger Eronn.
Then winter comes back
The mild weather continues throughout the week. But after that, lower temperatures may make a return visit to the northern parts of the country.
– In the next week, it looks like there will be a portion of colder air. On Tuesday, it looks like it will be really cold in northern Norrland again.
Even in southern Sweden it will be colder at the beginning or middle of next week, around zero degrees. But it is not certain that it will be long-lasting, says Inger Eronn.
– It’s too early to say, but it will get a little colder.
Ice slip warning: Very dangerous
It is also very slippery in several places, due to freezing rain or rain falling on cold roads.
During Tuesday, SMHI issued a yellow warning for sudden ice slippage in an area between northern Dalarna and eastern Norrbotten. The warning applies from 08:00 to 14:00 on Wednesday. Anyone going out into traffic is asked to drive carefully.
– During the weekend, it was freezing rain that came in, that is, rain that is so cold that the drops freeze as soon as they hit a surface, which makes it very dangerous, says Ingrid Eronn.
