Ski orienteering: Tove Alexandersson fell but managed the all-Swedish podium

– I am overwhelmed and do not know what to say. It was a perfect race and I drove very safely and pushed where I could, says the unexpected winner Magdalena Olsson in SVT’s broadcast.

Alexandersson had a Swedish duel with Olsson and Elin Schagerström and after half the race she led by a couple of seconds.

But between control eleven and twelve, Alexandersson took a re-track out into the loose snow and lost half a minute.

On his way to the finish line, Alexandersson then fell in the heavy loose snow and lost around 15 more seconds.

Gave birth to a daughter this summer

Magdalena Olsson, who gave birth to a daughter this summer, won the competition ahead of Elin Schagerström.

– Maybe it was just good, I had a good feeling and had no expectations, says Olsson about the upload as a mother. She decided to start only a month ago.

Schagerström was in the battle for gold until the very end but slipped in the loose snow on the last downhill and lost around 40 seconds but managed the silver.

– It was a fantastic team effort, now we have an all-Swedish podium as the top, says expert Josefine Heikka.

Tomorrow is the start of the hunt based on today’s results.
