Skellefteå fires Robert Ohlsson

Robert Ohlsson said he “doesn’t give a damn” what the supporters think.
The day after the criticized statement, he is fired from Skellefteå.
– He probably felt somewhere that he had reached a point where it was enough, says TV4’s hockey expert Staffan Kronwall.

Skellefteå has four straight losses and it has stormed around the head coach Robert Ohlsson after he in an interview with P4 Västerbotten answered a question about the supporters’ criticism that he “shits” on them.

And now – just one day after the words – it is clear that Ohlsson can leave the club.

Skellefteå confirms this in one press release where they thank him for his efforts in the club, which above all include last season’s long-awaited SM gold.

“Had stood up for himself enough”

TV4’s hockey expert Staffan Kronwall does not believe that the decision is solely based on the game, but that it caused friction between the club and the supporters and the coach for a long time.

It was clear early on that Ohlsson had no intention of coaching the team over the next season, and in the media he has been singled out as ready for Frölunda already, for which he was criticized in Västerbotten.

– He probably felt that it had come to a limit where he had had to stand up for himself enough and that that limit had been reached, says Staffan Kronwall about Ohlsson’s statement about his own supporters.

“He has had to endure something”

Kronwall says that the statement was perhaps unnecessary, but emphasizes that it is easy for those kinds of words to be magnified in the media, even if Ohlsson was aware of what he said.

– I think Robban has come a long way to get to this point. He has had to endure something there that has not been worthy, says Kronwall and concludes:

– They will be forever grateful for the gold but it takes away a bit of what he has achieved and achieved at that club.
