The match lasted a long time and weighed in Karlstad. 1-1, which was enough for Färjestad to advance as they had 4-3 to go on from the first meeting. With ten minutes left in the third, however, Skellefteå would make it 2-1 through Elias Stenman.
With six minutes left, it was also 3-1 in the game for Skellefteå, which meant a lead for Skellefteå in total, when Oskar Nilsson had a lot of net to shoot at after Andreas Johnson was inside and had contact with the goalkeeper in the goal area.
The referees reviewed the situation and chose to award a goal, as they judged that Johnson had been pushed into the goal yard.
Färjestad took a chance and picked the goalkeeper when they got a chance on the power play with just over two minutes left. Then it was instead a goal in an empty cage from Oskar Nilsson who scored a goal from his own zone.
Skellefteå won the match 4-1, and the total 7-5.
Skellefteå now faces Vitkovice from the Czech Republic in the semi-finals.
The Växjö rash
For the third Swedish team, Växjö, it stopped at home against Geneve Servette. Växjö had needed to win by three goals to force extra time after the 1-4 loss in the first meeting, which they failed to do.
Växjö did win the match 3-2, but lost the total 4-6.
