The Skeleton Crew series reshapes the map of the galaxy by exploring unknown planets and regions in the Star Wars universe, just like in the old movies.
With 1999’s The Phantom Menace, the Star Wars galaxy began to expand and new planets such as Coruscant and Naboo were introduced. Now, 25 years later Skeleton Crew series redraws the map of the galaxy once again. But this time, the details of the Old Republic are more mysterious than ever.
Lost Planets and Mysterious Maps with Skeleton Crew
In the 4th episode of Skeleton Crew, while the crew thinks they have arrived at At Attin, they actually arrive at the planet At Achrann. This planet appears to have been formed at the same time as At Attin and is linked to other mysterious planets such as At Aytuu, At Arissa, At Arivan and At Acoda. While the coordinates of these planets are known, the location of At Attin is kept secret for some reason.
Star Wars stories are often obsessed with missing pieces of information, like the mysterious map that leads to Luke Skywalker and the Jedi Temple in The Force Awakens or the map to another galaxy in Ahsoka. What’s different with Skeleton Crew is that this missing information comes from an obscure period in Star Wars’ ancient history.
In the classic films, the Jedi were referred to as an “ancient religion” even though they were active only a few decades earlier. This was likely due to Imperial propaganda and the tendency for widespread ignorance of recent history to spread rapidly throughout the Star Wars galaxy.
Skeleton Crew takes this cliché and builds something new: entire planets outside of galactic events. The series makes the Star Wars galaxy scary again, reminding us that neither the Jedi nor the Old Republic can regulate everything, and how vast space is.
