Skeleton Crew Episode 5 surprises with a big twist at the end

Skeleton Crew Episode 5 surprises with a big twist at

The Skeleton Crew’s adventure continues. Since the beginning of December we have been following Wim, Fern, Neel and KB in search of their home planet. So far, however, they have been quite unsuccessful. Although the shady Jod Na Nawood would like to set sail directly towards At Attin, they only end up on the wrong planet.

This is also the case in the latest episode: Chapter 5 of the space adventure takes us to a world called Lanupa (aka Demon’s Rest and Battle World), which is a bit reminiscent of Canto Bight from Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The spa planet serves as a place of relaxation for the rich – and hides some undreamt-of secrets.

Be careful, follow it spoiler!

Skeleton Crew reveals the treasure of At Attin, already sought by Captain Tak Tennod

In the 5th episode of Skeleton Crew we learn some exciting details about the central questions of the series, especially with regard to At Attin and Jod Na Nawood. What treasure is hidden on the children’s strictly sealed home planet? And why can Jude Law’s character use the Force? Is he actually a Jedi?

As we make our way through Indiana Jones-like traps in the underground labyrinth of Lanupa, it turns out that Jod and the kids have been on board the ship the whole time Onyx Cinder were – that spaceship that belonged to the legendary Captain Tak Tennod who, along with his crew, disappeared into the vastness of space without a trace.

After a lot of skeletons and a deadly acid bath, the Skeleton Crew finally arrives in Rennod’s treasury and receives another clue that points them towards At Attin – including the description of the treasure that is hidden there: The real treasure of At Attin is one Money printing machine for Old Republic credits.

Jod Ja Nawood betrays the children and takes up the lightsaber – but is he really a Jedi?

At this point, Jod decides to show his true colors: he invokes the pirate code and challenges Fern as captain. After all the warnings the children have received, the moment of betrayal has now come. Jod stands against them and is even ready to give up his “harmless, little” to use knives.

Skeleton Crew achieves the twist of many classic pirate stories and brings an additional detail into the game: Since we are moving in the Star Wars universe, dive into the treasure room blue lightsaber which is lit the wrong way round by Wim. It then grabs Jod using a power grab – cliffhanger, credits.

With a power move the figure was introduced (the keys in the prison on Port Borgo). However, Jod has never said himself that he is a Jedi. However, his words and actions provide some clues that move him more and more towards the Jedi Order. Two key moments in episode 5 are particularly exciting:

  • The Lightsaber and the Force: Iodine isn’t just very good at using the Force. He effortlessly retrieves his knife and moves Wim’s datapad. No, the sight of a lightsaber also seems very familiar to him, as does handling it. Jod is not seeing this weapon for the first time, but knows exactly what a powerful object he is dealing with.
  • The Teachings of the Jedi: In a one-on-one conversation with Wim on the Onyx Cinder, Jod shows his most Jedi-like side yet. He quotes a sentence that Qui-Gon Jinn also said to Anakin Skywalker in Episode I (“Your perception determines his reality”) and advises him to break away from all his attachments – from his doubts, his fears and his parents. This sounds like another lesson Anakin had to learn (the painful way) in the prequels.
  • We don’t have a definitive answer to Jod’s past. It should now be clear that he did not discover power by chance, but rather is very knowledgeable about the teachings of the Jedi. He reveals to Wim that he has broken away from his ties. Could he be a young man who had to fend for himself after Order 66 and ended up on the wrong path as a pirate?

When does Skeleton Crew continue with episode 6?

The 6th episode of the 1st season of Skeleton Crew will be released on January 1, 2025 on Disney+. A familiar face from the Mandoverse awaits us in the director’s chair: Bryce Dallas Howard, who has already directed episodes of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. After that, two more chapters await us.
