The skeleton of an adult has 206 distinct bones classified into two systems: the axial skeleton on the one hand that can be considered as the real framework of the human body, and the appendicular skeleton on the other hand which includes the arms and the legs. There are 26 bones at the level of the spine8 at the skull14 on the face, 7 other cranial bones, 25 on the level of the sternum and the ribs, 64 in the upper limbs and 62 in the lower limbs.
