Skaters tried to get out to Bonden outside Norrbyn – see their awesome photos

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

After several cold and almost windless days, the conditions for long-distance skating on the sea in Norra Kvarken have been excellent.

The ice also attracted KajsaLisa Olsson and her group of friends out on the ice. After careful planning, they decided on a trip to the Bonden lighthouse, 14 kilometers from the mainland in Umeå municipality.

“Must know the risks and take them seriously”

– It is not dangerous to ride if you have the right equipment and know what you are doing. But it’s not something you can count on, says KajsaLisa Olsson, and believes that you shouldn’t ski at sea if you don’t have a good idea, have someone experienced with you or have attended a course or information evening.

– It is available to everyone, but you have to know the risks and take them seriously, she says.

Saved deer

During the course of the adventure, the party suddenly caught sight of a deer that had ended up far out on the ice and could not get up on the slippery surface.

– We had to fight it back, says Richard Johansson.

“Then it really stopped”

Fyrön Bonden never reached the party. They were stopped by a surface of ice only two millimeters thick.

– It was almost like open sea. And then it took a lot of stopping, says KajsaLisa Olsson.

The trip was still a day trip of three miles in total.

In the clip, you can follow along on the trip to Norra Kvarken and hear how it went for KajsaLisa’s friend Amanda who went through the ice during the trip.
