During the night to Tuesday, the enclosure for Skansen’s owls collapsed due to the large masses of snow and the park’s two owls flew out.
– We discovered it when we got here in the morning, says Linda Törngren, head of the animal care unit at Skansen, and appeals to the public for help in locating the owls.
– We keep a watchful eye and hope that if someone sees a barn owl they contact us, she says, but does not think they made it that far.
Linda Törngren explains that owls can survive without food for a long time and that they have a strong hunting instinct that is deeply rooted and is therefore not worried that they will starve to death. But she is still concerned about the situation.
– We are very sad, she says.
