SJK knocked out VPS in the Finnish Cup | Sports in a nutshell

The winners of the sixth round matches advance to the quarterfinals, i.e. to the top eight.

The sixth round of the Finnish Football Cup continued on Tuesday with six matches.

Seinäjoki saw the meeting of two Veikkausliiga teams, when SJK takes a measure of VPS. SJK left the field as winners with a convincing 5–1 win. Kelvin Pires opened SJK’s goal taps with two hits in the first half. The Vaasa team narrowed down Martti Haukiojan with a penalty kick goal, but it was the team’s only one of the night. After the break Jaime Moreno continued the scoring for the home team with two goals and Rasmus Karjalainen completed the winning numbers at the end of the game.

KPV, who plays in the first division, knocked out FC Lahti, who plays in the Veikkausliiga. The away team Lahti scored the opening goal of the match in the eighth minute, but Arop Ringin and By Torfiq Ali-Abubakar the goals brought the Kokkola team a 2–1 victory.

KuPS advanced to the top eight when it overthrew PEPO in Lappeenranta with an overwhelming score of 5–1. The team from Kuopio got a dream start to the match when it moved on Samuli Miettinen and Otto Ruopin by hitting a two-goal lead in the first six minutes of the game.

FC Inter also marched into the quarterfinals with a clear goal difference when they beat GrIFK 6–1. The home team’s players managed to score twice Darren Smith and Otto Lehtisalo.

The actual game time of the match between FC Haka and PK-35 in Valkeakoski ended in a 0–0 situation, so the winner was decided in a penalty shootout. The home team Haka was barely better than that, winning the penalty shootout 5–4.

The match between VJS and AC Oulu went goalless until the last moments of regular time. In the end, he became the hero of the people of Oulu Ashley Coffey, who headed the ball into the net in the 89th minute and scored another in the fourth additional minute. AC Oulu therefore won 2–0.

From the sixth round of the Finnish Cup, there is still a match between EIF and HJK, which will be played on Wednesday evening. On Monday, TPS secured its next place.

The semi-finals and semi-finals will be drawn on Thursday.
