Six Turkish soldiers have been killed in an attack carried out by the terror-labeled PKK, according to the Turkish Ministry of Defense.
The attack took place on Friday at a Turkish base in Hakurk in northern Iraq in connection with a military operation in the area.
Since the suicide attack on Turkey’s Interior Ministry early on October 1, which the PKK claimed, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has promised that the country will intensify its attacks on “terrorist targets” in Iraq and Syria.
The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) is labeled a terrorist by Turkey, the EU and the US. It was founded in 1978 as a Marxist party. In 1984, the group took up arms against the Turkish state in its fight for independence in the area.
