Six Nations police raid house of community concern

Police on Six Nations of the Grand River arrested five people from Ohsweken after raiding a home on Mohawk Road on Jan. 27.

Police said they found cocaine, amphetamine salts, weapons and a vehicle with its VIN, or identification number, removed.

“This residence has been a community concern for illicit drug use and stolen property,” police said in a news release.

The officers had search warrants for the home and vehicles on the property.

Arrested are three men, aged 47, 43 and 34, and two women, aged 54 and 29.

Each is charged with possession of cocaine and amphetamine salts, careless storage of firearms and tampering with a vehicle identification number.

Several face other charges, including possession of a firearm despite a prohibition and failing to comply with undertakings.

Two of the men were held in custody for a bail hearing and later remanded in custody.

The others were released on a promise to appear in court or to get fingerprinted.

Man facing impaired load after collision

Police on Six Nations of the Grand River say a child was among the passengers in a vehicle that rolled over on First Line Road at about 10 pm on Jan. 29.

Police said they charged the 32-year-old driver with impaired operation, driving over 80, dangerous driving and failure to provide the necessities of life.

Police said they would not identify the driver to protect the identity of the child.
