Police officers suited up – in hockey gear – for a charity hockey game that drew a crowd of about 100 to Talbot Gardens in Simcoe on Thursday afternoon.
Officers from OPP detachments in Norfolk and Brant counties organized the game with Six Nations Police.
Admission for spectators was a non-perishable food donation for the Simcoe Caring Cupboard food bank.
“We decided it’s a great opportunity to blow the dust off the skates, and lace up,” said Const. Ed Sanchuk of Norfolk OPP. “It’s a tough fought game here today but I can guarantee everyone is a winner, especially the Simcoe Caring Cupboard because as a result, all the donations go to the community.”
Sanchuk noted the match was also an opportunity for more camaraderie and interaction among officers, getting in some physical activity, and having fun.
