Six Nations Police blotter: Firearms found in vehicle

Firearms located inside a suspected impaired driver’s vehicle resulted in charges for a 27-year-old Ohsweken man.

Six Nations officers on patrol discovered a vehicle stopped in the middle of Third Line Road at about 3:10 am on January 1.

Officers found a male driver and female passenger asleep in the vehicle, which was still running.

Both occupants were awakened, and the driver was told to shut off the vehicle as it was moving ahead slowly. The driver put the vehicle in park and handed over the keys.

The driver was taken into custody after showing signs of impairment, and during a search of the vehicle several firearms, ammunition, alcohol, and cannabis were located.

The male was charged with four counts of careless use of firearm, weapon, ammunition – careless use, two counts of firearm in motor vehicle, impaired operation, and alcohol per se offense 80 plus.

Two men facing multiple charges

Six Nations Police officers parked on Third Line Road on Dec. 29 observed a vehicle and driver matching several complaints that had been received about vehicles being rammed, erratic driving, and property damage.

The vehicle was observed by police performing stunt maneuvers and at one point driven directly at the marked police cruiser.

The vehicle – determined to have been stolen — fled and was followed by police on Chiefswood Road where motorists in both lanes had to pull to the shoulder to avoid collision.

Officers immobilized the vehicle after it turned into a private driveway.

Two male occupants refused to comply with demands by the officers but were taken into custody, said police.

The male driver displayed signs of impairment, and both men were found to have outstanding warrants from several neighboring police jurisdictions, said a release.

A 26-year-old Ohsweken man is charged with assault peace officer, assault with a weapon, assault with intent to resist arrest, dangerous driving, theft from police, possession of stolen property over $5,000, impaired operation, and alcohol per se Offense 80 more.

The passenger, a 25-year-old Ohsweken man, has been charged with assault with intent to resist arrest, occupant of motor vehicle without consent, and fail to comply with undertaking – conditions.

A 33-year-old Hagersville man has been charged with impaired operation and failure or refusal to comply.

Six Nations Police received an automatic crash notification at about 10:35 pm on Sunday, December 23.

Officers responded to the Chiefswood Road location where a vehicle was in the ditch.

The lone male occupant displayed signs of impairment and was taken to a neighboring police service where he refused to provide samples to a breath technician.

Driver faces loads

A 42-year-old Ohsweken man has been charged with impaired operation and failure or refusal to comply.

On Wednesday, December 21 at about 10:45 pm Six Nations Police officers parked on Third Line Road saw a vehicle that had earlier fled from police.

The vehicle sped by police on the wrong side of the road at a high speed.

Officers followed the vehicle until it pulled into a private driveway.

The male driver refused to provide breath samples when taken into custody, said police.
