In December last year, a man was severely beaten in a district in Västerås. Six men are now convicted of forcing the man into a car, squeezing him for money and abusing him, reports SVT Nyheter Västmanland.
A group of men came to the man in an apartment. They claimed that he owed them money and was behind the disappearance of drugs.
The man was dragged out to a car, where he was severely beaten and threatened with a gun. But witnesses alerted the police, who interrupted the process.
Västmanland District Court convicts the six men for having abused, blackmailed and threatened the victim. Two of them are imprisoned for 5 years and 9 months and 4 years respectively. Two of the men receive shorter prison sentences of around 1.5 years.
The victim, who lives protected in a secret place, is also awarded damages of SEK 400,000.
