Six forest fires after lightning strikes

Six forest fires are now raging in Östergötland. All are believed to have been started by lightning strikes.

None of the fires are particularly large – the largest is slightly smaller than a football field – but several of them are difficult to reach.

– We have a lot to do, says Daniel Asp at the rescue service in Östra Götaland The Express.

The rescue service writes on its website that two helicopters have been called in to fight a forest fire in Valdemarsvik.

The fire “is inaccessible”, writes the rescue service, and covers an area of 5,300 square meters. For comparison, a soccer field is 7,140 square meters.

“Does not spread quickly”, it says on the website.
