At least six people have been killed in connection with anti-government protests in Kenya on Wednesday, according to police sources.

People followed opposition leader Raila Odinga’s call to take to the streets to protest tax increases and skyrocketing living costs.

Odinga says the protests will continue and accuses the police of using excessive force.

– All our meetings have been peaceful, until the police arrived, he tells journalists.

In August last year, Odinga lost the presidential election to William Ruto by a narrow margin. Odinga claims electoral fraud was behind Ruto’s victory and that his government is illegitimate, but his allegations have been rejected by the country’s judiciary.
