The death of a 36-year-old Sarnia man Monday is under investigation by Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit.

Sarnia police were called to conduct a wellness check of a man on London Road in Sarnia around 11:30 am Sept. 12, SIU officials said in a news release.

An officer arrived and the man went into medical distress, the officer called for paramedics, and paramedics took the man to hospital where he was pronounced dead Monday afternoon, officials said.

Five investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to the case and an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, officials said.

Anyone with information, including video or photos, is asked to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or https://siu.on.ca/en/appeals.php.
