The Inspectorate for Care and Care decided today to temporarily close the Sis home Långanäs in Eksjö municipality, after serious irregularities came to light.
– There is information that staff exposed the placed children to serious physical violence, says Peder Carlsson, head of department at IVO in a press release.
The last two wards at Sis youth center Långanäs in Eksjö municipality that have been kept open are now temporarily prohibited from operating. This after the Inspectorate for Care and Care (IVO) carried out inspections and received serious information.
– There are very serious irregularities in the business that have come to light. Among other things, there is information that staff subjected the placed children to serious physical violence, says Peder Carlsson, head of department at IVO, in a press release.
The wards at the youth center must be closed by June 28 at the latest and the children living there must then be relocated. The business ban applies for a maximum of six months.
Not the first time
IVO has previously criticized the youth home. Earlier this spring, several departments had to close due to a lack of fire protection, writes SVT.
Now IVO assesses that no sufficient measures will be taken and that the situation has not improved, but rather worsened.
– The serious information that has come to light means that we have to ban the activity in order to secure the health and personal safety of the placed children. IVO assesses that Sis lacks the ability to immediately make the changes that are necessary to ensure a safe and secure care environment for the children, says Peder Carlsson.
When TV4 Nyheterna talks to Stefan Hell Fröding, press secretary at Sis, they have just learned of the decision.
– We will read through and analyze it, and get back to you, he says.
