24-year-old Siri Eskola broke the single-season hit record in the women’s Superpesi on Saturday in Tampere.

Manse PP’s Siri School has broken the women’s Superpesis record for runs scored in one season.

In the home match against Joensuu Maila, Eskola hit one run, with which he raised his total to 95. 12 of the runners are from municipalities.

The record was previously held by Lapuan Virkiä Janette Lepistö, who hit nine homers and 86 regular runs in the summer of 2018. So he has the same number of runs scored, but Eskola has more homers.

– It was more of a rush of emotions that it was the first success of the game in a situation at the back. Of course, there was also good progress From Saga (Saaga-Angelia Raudasoja). I gave him credit for that, Eskola told Urheilu.

Most runs scored in a single season

1. Siri Eskola 12+83 (2022)
2. Janette Lepistö 9+86 (2018)
3. Janette Lepistö 5+83 (2019)
4. Henna Salmela 2+82 (2001)
5. Janette Lepistö 4+79 (2015)

Eskola says that at first he didn’t even notice that the batting record was piling up pressure.

– But when congratulatory messages came from all sides, then maybe they started to pile up. When we started the game, I think it was the same feeling as in other games. I don’t know, I missed those punches today. Would there have been pressure or something, Eskola stated.

Eskola’s goal was little consolation for the people of Tampere, as it was the team’s only one. The people of Joensuu took a surprising 2–0 (3–0, 4–1) victory from the top of the league. The fourth full points pot was important for the Joensuu team, which holds eighth place, in terms of a place in the playoffs.

However, the 24-year-old Eskola can also break another almost 60-year-old record in the final moments of the regular season. Eskola has beaten 12 municipalities while being in the top spot all the time Tuula Rantanen. He hit the field 13 times in 10 games in 1964, worthy of a kunnar.

– When your own team is doing so well, it’s easy to score runs. There are also more places to break through when the opponents are closer. I’m not going to start thinking about the municipalities in principle. I always go for one surface, Eskola answers with a smile.

The magical mark of 100 runs is also close at hand. Manse still has home matches against Seinäjoki’s Maila-Jusse and Jyväskylä’s Kirittäri.

Eskola previously won two Finnish championships and a silver medal in Jyväskylä’s Kirittäri, but moved to Tampere for this season to be responsible for outdoor games. Eskola, who thrives as a catcher, has speculated that the outfield responsibility is a big reason why his hitting game has taken off.

– When I’ve been able to play the outdoor game as well, I haven’t been able to focus only on the indoor game and create trouble and difficulties for myself. There has also been luck, says Eskola.

In addition to the statistics mentioned above, Eskola leads the top hitting statistics, as he has successfully advanced the top 133 times this season. 18 imported runs have accumulated.
