Football legend Bobby Charlton is dead.
He won World Cup gold with England and is seen as one of Manchester United’s best players of all time.
“Sir Bobby was a hero to millions of people, not just in Manchester but across the UK,” the club said in a statement.

Bobby Charlton made 106 international appearances for England and accounted for 49 goals.

During his 17 years as a player at Manchester United, he won three league golds, a European title and an FA Cup.
“Sir Bobby was a hero to millions of people, not just in Manchester but across the UK and to everyone who has played football around the world,” Manchester United wrote in a press release.
In a statement, Sir Bobby Charlton’s family wrote:
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Sir Bobby passed away peacefully on Saturday morning. He was surrounded by his family”.
Bobby Charlton was 86 years old.
