Jannik Sinner celebrates winning the tennis Grand Slam three weeks after he was acquitted of doping charges.
Italian Jannik Sinner23, has won the second Grand Slam title of his tennis career by toppling the host nation By Taylor Fritz 6–3, 6–4, 7–5 in the US Open final.
Ranked 12th in the tournament, Fritz’s dream of returning the American man to the home tournament champion for 21 years failed in New York.
World number one Sinner won the Australian Open in January. On Sunday, he became the first Italian man to win the US Open in singles.
The Italian gave a positive doping sample twice last March, but he survived the incident without a ban. Klostebol, which is an anabolic steroid, was found in Sinner’s doping samples. The body that supervises the ethics of tennis took the matter to an independent judicial body for decision, which found Sinner innocent of the doping violation.
