The E6 at Stenungsund is closed in both directions after persistent rain has caused a large sinkhole that several cars and a bus went down. Three people are said to be injured.

– We received the alarm at 01.45. It is an area of ​​a couple of hundred meters in all directions that is affected. The E6 is affected in both northbound and southbound directions, . A side road is also affected and closed, says Niclas Fogelqvist, alarm and command officer at the rescue service in Greater Gothenburg.

According to Fogelqvist, there are also buildings in the affected area, but they should not be residential. According to Aftonbladet, a hamburger restaurant at the entrance to Stenungsund has been destroyed in the landslide.

– It is a little unclear how many cars and a bus have driven into the hole. Ambulances and emergency services are on site, says Niclas Fogelqvist.

According to the police, three people have been injured.

According to the rescue service, it cannot be ruled out that further landslides may occur. Road users and the public are asked to avoid the area.

The police assess that the impact on traffic will be “enormous” for a long time to come.
