More and more families with children are looking for help to put food on the table, according to organizations that TV4 Nyheterna spoke to. – Young women with children who can’t make ends meet call as a last resort but still can’t make ends meet with the economy, says Helen Lidman at the Salvation Army One of the single parents who find it increasingly difficult to put food on the table is Beatrice Bernsheim , 27, from Hässleholm. She works part-time in healthcare and some months when she gets a work pass, she has SEK 9,000 in salary after tax. – Sometimes you have cried out of panic, but at the same time you think that it will be as it will be and go as it will. As long as my daughter has a roof over her head, food in her stomach and clothes on her body. The rising food prices affect those who already had small margins before. – You won’t be able to afford to live soon, because everything just goes up. Soon you will not be able to afford food or a home. You think that soon it won’t be enough, says Beatrice Bernsheim. Families with children seek food aid The aid organizations that TV4 Nyheterna spoke to say that more and more families with children are seeking help. – Those who have already had it strained before and barely made ends meet are the ones who are hit the hardest, says Helen Lidman, head of social work at the Salvation Army. In January this year, food prices had risen by almost 20 percent compared to the same month the year before, according to the inflation statistics from Statistics Norway, Statistics Sweden.
