Suffered from Alzheimer’s
In 2016 he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and in 2021 he retired from the stage for good. Just a few weeks earlier, Bennet had given his last public concerts.
Bennett’s son Danny Bennett, who has been his father’s manager for the past 40 years, said it was doctor’s orders for him to stop even though he was still a capable performer.
– His continued health is the most important part of this, Danny Bennett said at the time.
Tony Bennett turned 96 years old.
