The Mizan Online news agency, which depends on the judiciary, announced that the singer is being prosecuted for having broadcast an illegal song contesting Islamic rules and the obligation to wear the veil, in force since the Islamic revolution of 1979.

The 41-year-old singer, who lives in Tehran, released the track Roosarito (“your scarfin Farsi) and a three-minute clip in favor of the veil optional » dedicating it to « brave iranian women who participated in the protest movement.

In the Mehdi Yarrahi video, he asks women to take off their veils and show their hair. We see young women without veils and wearing short shirts showing their bellies or their arms dancing. Scenes from the protests against power after the death of Mahsa Amini are also shown in this video.

The singer regularly supports the protest triggered in September 2022 on his Instagram account. He has also criticized the authorities on several occasions in his concerts, in particular for discrimination against the inhabitants of Khuzestan, his native province.

The Iranian authorities are increasing the warnings against any new demonstrations as the anniversary of the death of Mahsa Amini approaches.
