Canadian singing legend Celine Dion promises to return to the stage, according to a new documentary. Dion suffers from a rare stiffness syndrome that makes singing difficult.
When the Canadian singing legend Celine Dion announced With an Instagram video in December 2022, that he would stop his world tour, fans freaked out.
Dion said at the time that he has been diagnosed with an extremely rare neurological disorder.
Following the announcement, Dion suspended her world tour and publicly retired
Many thought they would never hear Dion’s iconic voice again.
Now the singer says in the documentary I Am: Celine Dion that she is returning to the singing stage.
Dion says that she is preparing for a new tour, which will begin on the stages of Las Vegas.
– I’m going back to the stage. I don’t know when yet, but I can’t wait, Dion says in the documentary.
Struggled while singing
The documentary I Am: Celine Dion deals with the singer’s stiff person syndrome (SPS).
SPS is a rare neurological disease. It causes, among other things, muscle spasms.
In the documentary, 56-year-old Dion talks about the anxiety he experienced when he started to notice the first changes in his voice.
– My throat felt a little strange, like a small spasm, says the Canadian star the BBC by.
Dion reveals that because of the illness, changes had to be made to the song repertoire. Although the star was struggling with illness, canceling the entire world tour was not possible.
– I had to find a new way to be on stage, Dion says.
After Dion stopped her tour, she says she got the cramps under control with medication and physical therapy.
