After the transportation minister was arrested in connection with a corruption probe last week, the first in nearly 40 years, this week two members of the country’s main party, parliament speaker Tan Chuan-Jin and female lawmaker Cheng Li Hui, resigned from their posts over an “inappropriate relationship”. This is the second case that bursts in the media in a few days in a country where political scandals are however rare.
