Eyes appearing red can cause bleeding, blurred vision, and even loss of vision. Diabetics with high blood pressure are most at risk for a condition known as retinopathy. Dr. “Sometimes people don’t realize they are suffering from high blood pressure,” Felix said.

“At times, a person’s blood pressure may rise suddenly due to an underlying condition. Under such circumstances, knowing the signs and symptoms properly can help a person seek emergency medical attention. The optic nerve at the back of the eye can be affected by blood pressure. High blood pressure can cause problems with the optic nerve, causing blurred vision or redness of the eyes.”
HYPERTENSION SYMPTOMS
Other high blood pressure symptoms include chest pain, headaches, or feeling short of breath, while persistent nosebleeds can also be a warning sign of hypertension. It causes the blood vessels in the nose to swell and eventually burst, causing nosebleeds.
EFFECTS CAUSED BY HIGH TENSION
Eating unhealthy foods, especially consuming too much salt, being overweight, and not getting enough exercise can cause high blood pressure. Not getting enough sleep can also pose a risk.
Everyone should aim to eat less than six grams of salt per day—the equivalent of about one teaspoon—and it is recommended that all adults over the age of 40 have their blood pressure checked at least every five years.
