The police suspect that the two men who freed a man in Norrköping on Wednesday did not act alone.

– There are many indications that there are significantly more people involved, says Jan Staaf, who leads the preliminary investigation, to Sveriges Radio.

According to him, there is witness information about people who have behaved strangely in another vehicle.

The freed man was in custody in Norrköping, waiting to be placed in an institution. According to information in several media, it is about a 20-year-old from Malmö who last year was convicted of attempted murder together with another man.

He was freed by armed men outside Vrinnevisikhuset. Police are now investigating how the men knew he would be visiting the hospital at that time.

The incident is classified as aggravated promotion of escape, aggravated weapons offense and aggravated threat to an official.
