Since 2005, the Accessibility Act has allowed parents to choose the language of schooling for their deaf child. In theory, they can request that their child follow a bilingual curriculum in French Sign Language (LSF) – French. However, the structures offering this type of education remain rare, which can considerably complicate the back-to-school process for families.
