The West African country’s electoral authority has banned the street parties, citing that elections are “not the time for dancing and revelry”. Instead, voters should be encouraged to “deeply reflect” on their positions.
According to the new rules, the parties must specify a venue for an election meeting in advance.

The next election in the country will be held on June 24 this year, when both the president and members of parliament will be elected.
