Through Sida, Sweden is donating SEK 74 million to war-torn Ukraine, the aid authority states in a press release.

The money goes to the International Committee of the Red Cross ICRC and to the humanitarian country fund UHF and is intended to be used for, among other things, cash support, health care, and food, as well as to secure access to water, heat and electricity.

“Approximately 40 percent of the Ukrainians who are in the country are in need of humanitarian support. The situation is particularly difficult for those who live near the front line but also for those who have returned home, to homes that are destroyed and where you may no longer have a job to return to,” says Jakob Wernerman, head of humanitarian aid at Sida, in the press release .

In 2023, Sida assisted Ukraine with a total of 233.4 million and this year, Sida estimates that around 154 million will be given to the country, provisionally.
