Shrek 5 is supposed to come with original stars and that’s not all

Shrek – The daredevil hero is a cherished childhood memory for many. However, it has become quiet about a continuation of the series with the green ogre (German dubbing voice: Sascha Hehn), his wife Fiona (Esther Schweins) and the faithful donkey (Randolf Kronberg). Speaking to Variety, producer Chris Meledrandi revealed he’s currently working on Shrek 5 with studio DreamWorks. On the part of the original voice actors like Eddie Murphy, Mike Myers or Cameron Diaz there is “tremendous enthusiasm“to slip into their roles again. The cast has not yet been officially confirmed.

Incidentally, Meledrandi teased a spin-off with the donkey, the “without question” could get his own film. However, the producer did not reveal any details about further franchise developments.

When is Shrek 5 in cinemas?

Judging by the interview, Shrek 5 is still in a very early stage of development. We expect not before the end of 2024 with the fantasy cracker. It would be the first mainline film since 2010’s Shrek Forever After.
